South African artiste, Tyla, has been confirmed as a performer at the upcoming 2024 BET Award show.
This year’s ceremony is scheduled for June 30, 2024, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will be hosted by Taraji P. Henson, who returns following her back-to-back emcee gigs in 2021 and 2022.
Tyla’s first performance at the prestigious event will feature a star-studded lineup that includes YG Marley, Ms. Lauryn Hill, and many more, as announced by the network on Thursday, June 13.
In addition to her highly anticipated performance, Tyla is also attending the event as a first-time nominee. She has received nominations in various categories such as Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best New Artist, Viewer’s Choice, and Best International Act, making her the most nominated artist from Africa this year. Other African nominees to look out for include Nigeria’s Burna Boy, Tems, Ayra Starr, Asake, and Seyi Vibez, as well as South Africa’s Tyler ICU, Focalistic, and Makhadzi.
The nominations are led by American rapper, Drake, with seven nominations, followed by Nicki Minaj with six.
