Nigerian rapper, songwriter and singer, Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru, popularly known by his stage name, Reminisce, has revealed that it took him eight months to accept to feature in Kemi Adetiba‘s “King of Boys”.
The rapper, who played the role of “Makanaki” in the movie, disclosed this in a recent interview with HipTV.
According to the singer, he was not sure of taking up the role because, he had a lot of things going on at the time. But, Kemi Adetiba, finally convinced him, after eight months.
“I wasn’t so sure I could do it because, I had so much going on at that time but, Kemi Adetiba was able to convince me and this took about eight months. Though there were a lot of other names flying around but she said no, that she wanted Reminisce to do this,” he said.
Reminisce further revealed that, he was finally ready to shoot his first two scenes on his birthday, but was afraid he would mess up. He, however, said Kemi believed in him and convinced him again.
He added that veteran actress Sola Sobowale – who played the role of “Eniola Salami”, the lead character – was very serious with her role, causing him to question his readiness.
His words: “So, I saw her in her full element and I told Kemi I can’t do this. She asked why I said look at this woman na, I can’t do this. This woman is in another world, I don’t want to mess up, I can’t do this.
“But Kemi convinced me and said she believed I can do it and I went back home and returned to give my best like you all saw in the movie”.
