We have put together a list of artists, who ended the year 2022 on a high note, with predictions on how they are set to take the course of music to another level in 2023.
The Nigerian music industry keeps getting more competitive as the years go by. 2022, the year of surprises, streaming farming, and heartbreaking losses, has passed on the baton to 2023.
Even though nothing is guaranteed, we present a few of our top picks to watch out for in 2023, in no particular order:
Ruger, BNXN
The duo have been throwing shades at each other on Twitter for months, and both had a great year. Can they build on that and do better? Let’s not forget that BNXN narrowly beat Ruger to Headies Next Rated crown.
Seyi Vibez
Seyi Vibez was one of the breakout artists of 2022. We hope to see the artist take more flights this year.
Ayra Starr
Will she release an album after two EPs in 2022? Watch out for this singing sensation. With the release of ‘Rush,’ she gained massive followership and is set to continue growing in the music industry.
Asake
Can ‘Mr Money With The Vibes‘, as he is popularly known, keep up with the successes of 2022?
Fave
The singer thrilled fans with several sensational singles last year and should be a part of the top picks to look out for in 2023.
Rema
Rema’s ‘Calm Down‘ was arguably one of the most popular Afrobeat songs globally last year. Would he be able to build on that? Will he finally release an album?
Mohbad
Our selected cover for the day and one of Nigeria’s top street vibes crooners. He left his former label, Marlian Music, so we should be looking out to see more of what this fast-rising star is made of.
Tems
With all of her international recognition and collaborations in 2022, we should be looking out to see more of what Tems can contribute to the music industry.
Teni
The list would not be complete if we fail to recognize one of Nigeria’s Afrobeats megastars, Teni Apata, after shocking fans with her weight loss transformation, she should follow up with some more projects this year.
Meanwhile, other notable mentions include Odumodublvck, Bryann of BBNaija, Zinoleesky, Boy Spice, Bayanni, Oxlade, Nonso Amadi, T.I. Blaze and Majeed.
Lastly, the producers turned artists, such as Young Jonn, Ckay and Pheelz are notable talents to also watch out for this year.
Looking forward to see how great majeed will go this year the guy is lyrically good
