AMAA Founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Passes On

Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the founder of one of the most prestigious awards in Africa, the African Movie Academy Awards ( AMAA), has died.

The AMAA founder was pronounced dead at St. Nicolas Hospital in Lagos,  after going into a coma on Saturday, January 7th 2023.

Furthermore, the sad news was confirmed by Zik Zulu, one of her associates, in a public statement.

“Our President, Peace has passed. As of Saturday, she was reported to be in Voma at Saint Nicholas, but now her family has confirmed her transition. May the memory of her life be a blessing. Rest in peace, dear Peace”. He wrote on a Nollywood platform.

Also, another Nollywood icon, Mike Nliam wrote, “The founder of AMAA and president of the Association of Movie Producers of Nigeria, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, is gone to be with the Lord!”

The deceased will be remembered as one of the legends who took Nollywood and African cinema to a grand level.
