Nigerian singer Bnxn has released his second studio album, “CAPTAIN,” via T.Y.E. and EMPIRE.
“CAPTAIN” is a 16-track masterpiece that showcases Bnxn’s musical versatility, artistic evolution, and commanding presence in the music industry.
In a recent Grammy interview about his “CAPTAIN” album, Bnxn shared his insights, stating:
“Captain” was a name that my friends used to call me to differentiate me and give me this position of leadership, in some sense.
But I saw a deeper meaning into what it was, especially pertaining to my music. I just see myself as this pirate, this captain on the ship; I was watching Pirates of the Caribbean the entire summer when I was working on this album.
So I just see myself as this person of importance in this ocean of this industry and in Nigeria. To get to this kind of level I’ve been able to amass, it takes some certain level of skill.
I’m just excited to share this project. It feels very, very personal. I was even skeptical about dropping a single, mainly because the album was already very cohesive. It felt like taking a block out of a building, in some sense.
With “CAPTAIN,” Bnxn weaves a tapestry of Afro-Fusion, Afrobeats, R&B, and pop, proving his ability to transcend genres with effortless flair.
Bnxn’s album, “CAPTAIN,” features guest appearances from Rema, Seyi Vibez, Victony, FOLA, and Soweto Gospel Choir.
The album was preceded by a series of Bnxn’s earlier singles, including “Very Soon,” “Cutesy,” “Phenomena,” and “Fi Kan We Kan” featuring Rema.
To promote the album, Bnxn will embark on a North American music tour, kicking off on August 22 in Boston, USA, and concluding on September 19 in Edmonton, Canada.
