Marlian Records boss, Naira Marley, hs been named the newest War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign ambassador by the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Naira Marley’s appointment as the WADA campaign ambassador comes from his influential platform and massive fan base, which he plans to utilize to raise awareness about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.

With his involvement, the NDLEA hopes to reach a wider audience and make a significant impact in curbing this pressing issue in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Naira Marley had previously engaged in conflict with Nigerian government authorities. The same day he released his 2019 hit song, ‘Am I A Yahoo Boy,’ the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission detained him.

A few days after leaving jail, he also published his famous song, ‘Soapy,’ which discussed convicts’ sexual tendencies. These controversial songs, along with Naira Marley’s public persona, have sparked debates about freedom of expression and the influence of music on society.

Naira Marley, however, complies with the law as of August 17, 2023. In order to show his support for the advocacy campaign for the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA), the musician was welcomed by the NDLEA chairman.

The spokesperson for NDLEA stated that Naira Marley’s collaboration with the NDLEA is aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse among Nigerian youth. The agency hopes his involvement will encourage more individuals to join the fight against drug abuse and contribute to a drug-free society.
