Ayra Starr has made history by becoming the first Nigerian female artist to appear on the U.S. Billboard 200 Album chart.
She achieved this milestone with her second album, ‘The Year I Turned 21,’ which debuted at No. 195. This news was shared by Billboard Charts in a tweet that also highlighted other notable debuts on the chart.
In addition to its success on the U.S. charts, Ayra Starr‘s album is also the first project by a female Nigerian artist to debut on the UK Official Album chart. It entered the UK charts at No. 80 and the French charts at No. 72.
Notably, Burna Boy’s album ‘Love, Damini‘ remains the highest-peaking Nigerian album in the U.S. to date, reaching No. 14. Additionally, ‘Love, Damini’ was the first Nigerian album to top the UK album chart.
